Design of a £50 million hotel, restaurant, office and residential complex on the site of the former Cheshire Constabulary headquarters.

McCormick designed a building which could stand up to the powerful historic presence of Chester landmarks, drawing from the past and forming new and enhanced visual links.

HQ is a building of our time with a vibrant, exciting and sophisticated public urban space.

Features:
Dynamic, circular form with a large central piazza, sits on a sandstone plinth in keeping with Chester's sandstone base, four tall gateway entrances, raised seam zinc roof flows over the glazing and swoops upwards.

  • Cost: estimated £50 million
  • Total sq ft: 250,000
  • Length of Project: Summer 2005-Autumn 2006, subject to planning approval
